The favorite bait of Crappie fishermen is live minnows or small jigs. Black Crappie or "slabs" are very aggressive fighters on small lightweight tackle and after a long day on the lake you should have plenty for a good meal..

Of course, day or night, Lake Norman is always busy with a local bass fishing tournament. Bass fishermen fishing rubber worms, plugs or top water lures can always count on producing some action in late spring or early summer. Late summer action is limited to fishing deep water structures as Bass and other fish seek cooler waters.

Catfish are fast becoming a favorite fish on Lake Norman. Good to eat and plentiful in Lake Norman, hot summer nights are excellent times to fish for catfish with live minnows, night crawlers, or other "smelly" baits.

In the winter, there is only one fish to fish for on Lake Norman....Striped Bass or "Stripers" are perhaps the largest species of fish that can be caught on Lake Norman. Stripers provide excellent action when drifting live bait on Lake Norman.
